    This is a simple letter of thanks for a job very well done. Firstly, kudos on the super fast shipping, it was an important thing to me. Secondly, but most important, the product knowledge, accurate descriptions, and matching options are unrivaled in my experience. This is an electronic art form, that is to say, the "personality" of these type of parts are the deciding factor in which to use, and you exemplary skills in the field serve people like me very well. I needed matched pairs of tubes for some 1949 Ampex 300 preamps that originally sported Telefunken's from that era. Not only did you have the orginaal Telefunken's (although out of my price range, but amazing just the same) - but your description of the plate structure and sound characteristics of alternate tubes has made me one happy studio owner. The Ei Elite Gold 12AX7's are unbelievable in comparison. If I didn't know better, I would sear these were Tele's in those preamps - and the low microphonic/noise floor matching service was well worth the minuscule amount you charge for that service. Again, thank you for your help, quick shipment, and general expertise on a subject so few are expert in. I will certainly be recommending you to all in my area - best to all on that end.

  • Found Tubedepot.com by accident. Looking for tubes for an old Ampeg amp and a guy on the Ampeg forum directed someone else there for tubes. I checked out the site and they had all the tubes I needed (9 in all) in stock and prices were very competetive with other places I had checked but didnt have the whole order in stock. Selected regular shipping and the order showed up in 3 days. Installed the tubes and amp fired right up so no complaints and will order from them again.

  • Great products! well packaged! The 10 to 14 days shipping estimation is at best hopeful. It took over a month to recieve the tubes I ordered. Wasnt impressed.Get the express delivery if you intend on buying from the tube depot or you might be waiting a good long while. I really think they should put on their website that it is only an estimation and it could take a lot longer.   • Great experience with TubeDepot. I had ordered 4 Sovtec power tubes and I received them within a few days intact. Intitially when I had ordered late at night, and the next morning I had received an email stating that my tubes were not in stock. I was reassured that they would be in by the end of the week. Well 3 days later, I had received another email telling me my order had been shipped. I was very happy that they were honest with me and let me know that my tubes were not in stock, and gave me a realistic timeframe. Honesty scores big points in my book. Ill definately be ordering from TubeDepot again.

  • Overall, an excellent experience shopping at TubeDepot. As an electronics engineer, building and restoring vintage radio & Hi-Fi amplifiers is my hobby. Having damaged a valve (sorry, tube!) of an obsure type, I thought it would take a long time to find one. A quick search revealed several resellers that could supply but TubeDepot had the stock and a excellent special price! Purchased six and several other difficult to obtain valves, manufacturers vary greatly & TubeDepot staff let me choose from an e-mailed list! Delivery to the UK expensive but well worth the cost against the product prices! Only three working days to arrive at my address in the UK. Great! I will be ordering again soon... ...

  • This is my second and return visit to Tube Depot, and the reason I have come back is because the first time I received everything from an Online Retailer that I would expect - excellent customer service in reply to my questions, best price I could find, cheapest and quickest shipping, goods well packed, well designed and easy to navigate website. What more could you want???!!!

    The only one thing I would like to see is a Ratings Table combined with a Professional/expert review for the different types of tube, for example, all brands of 12ax7 - including things like tonality, gainy-ness, best/most common uses/amps for each brand, reliability, microphonics, etc... I really think it would help individual customers make more informed decisions about this most vital, and misunderstood part of the amplifier tone chain!!! And possibly cut down on annoying questions from tone-concerned customers like myself... : )

    Considering the relatively disposable nature of a tube in a tube amp, it means that customers like myself, who play professionally, and own several tube amps working regularly, will be also changing tubes fairly regularly - and I think a way of ranking each brand of tube against the other, would greatly reduce the trial and error nature of buying a set of tubes. In my early trial and error days, I have experienced the disappointment of buying a set of really expensive NOS tubes, and then finding out they were not really right for a guitar amp. Very frustrating!

    Anyway, thanks again for your excellent service, I hope you consider my suggestions, for something along those lines will guarantee a return customer out of me for my guitar playing life!!!

  • I ordered a set of tubes from their Rare NOS../Recent additions -list. It took three weeks to find one missing item but otherwise everything worked out fine. Overseas delivery to Europe took four days door-to-door and tubes arrived in perfect condition.

  • Tube Depot has a good and usable web site, offers lots of tube brands and indicates the actual bias of the tubes they sell (most do not do this), which makes them a great place from which to buy tubes. Also, when there was a problem with the shipper, they offered to assist and stayed in touch with me through the actual delivery (the delivery problem had nothing to do with Tube Depot.)   • The EL34s sound awesome! Its like I have a new amp. The tube arrived within 3 days. Great price and fast shippment with their 3 day fedex. The place where I had them put in and biased quoted me over the phone $90 for a matched quad. I got them through these guys for almost have the cost with shipping included, then the guy who put them in asked me how much I paid and I told him just under $52, He raised his eyebrows and turned around and said he would of only charged me $48. Whats 4 bucks when he would have charged me $90 origially. The tubes sound great. I have a marshall 100watt JMP 79 modified through 4 12s Its so much louder now and I dont need to use a distortion pedal for the sound I want. the ruby tubes I had before were good, I just had them in there for over 5 years, So they were starting to fade. These electro harmonics are killer! They Looked Identical to the Rubys. Their probably the same company, anyway their great bang for the buck. Satisfied customer. thanks

    My only comment is that the search only finds exact matches. My tube did not have an A at the end, and I was unable to find it on the website because the description had an A on it. The page with all the tubes listed is just very confusing. So I called and they helped me. I also needed a single power tube, and the website only had matching pairs. I also called on that and they said to just write it in my comments on the order. They were very nice and helpful.

    I just think it would be easier for them if the site had a better search and listed more options for purchasing tubes in their inventory. There are a lot of single power tube amps out there.

Photos and clear information for all Tube Depots products are available and the the items I wanted were in stock. Online ordering and payment were a breeze and my order was well packed and shipped in an expeditious manner. I did some fairly extensive online research on products and pricing before deciding to order from Tube Depot. For some reason, I just felt safe placing an order with them. Tube Depots prices are fair and were in line and often more reasonable than those at firms selling similar items. I am now finalizing an order for additional items from them. Tube Depot appears to be well-run and professional in its dealings with the public. I would not hesitate to purchase items from them in the future.

  • Package arrived smashed and split open. Original packaging for the items ordered not intact. Packaging for these items had been opened and then taped closed. Items (wire cutters) did not appear damaged however it makes me a bit reluctant to order more delicate items from this site.

I think you should provide other reasonable options such as transported by ship because some customers are not worry about the arrival date, maybe 1-2weeks. Your companys comment overall is good. Its all there on their site, (its not automatically calcd in the shipping as I assumed), with the product, just pay attention. Its all very reasonable, unless you can find it locally. Shipping tends to be kind of high from these vendors probably due to packaging and handeling charges they are tacking on as well; I guess they dont figure that into their product price? Otherwise, very responsive vendor, very well packed indeed, and the product I purchase was as represented.

  • The website layout made it was easy to find the vacuum tubes I needed. However, I made a mistake in my first order because I didnt pay attention to the differences between tubes on the same page. If I had looked at the pictures carefully it would have been obvious. I didnt realize my mistake until my order had arrived! I phoned Tube Depot and let them know what had happened. They were completely understanding and even set up a verbal order so when the wrong tubes were returned they sent out the right ones the same day and corrected the balance on the credit card. Great customer service! When I got the right tubes plus another tube I added when the verbal order was taken, I found that the additional tube was a different brand. It was usable so I emailed them to correct the price difference which they did.

    Moral of the story: Make sure you order the right tubes and order them online. Call first with any questions because they can help!

    However, the standard postage to Canada (which is out of Tube Depots control) is very poor (hence my rating). It appears to me that the problem is the US Postage service, so I recommend that your orders to Canada be placed with the courier service which is 3 or 4 days, as opposed to US (&/or the Canadian) mail service of 20 days! If you live outside North America then you have to use the courier service so my comments on the poor mail service doesnt apply. Perhaps Tube Depot could investigate a cheaper but faster courier service to Canada?

  • You dont have the option of ordering a single output tube when you use the online form. The power tubes are sold in matched sets, which is how you usually want to order them. I, however needed only a single EL84. Initially, I was charged for a pair. However, after emailing them, I received a refund of the amount of the second tube. I received very prompt service in regard to the tube order and excellent customer service in response to the order. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing this specialized type of product.

The shipping options are quite few for international customers, but the price of the Fedex international service is cheap enough to satisfy me. In other vacuum tube web stores the sipping options are very narrow too, but the courier service prices are the double in price. Until this day I love tubedepot.com.

I am writing this review on good faith that my troubles would soon be over when my replacement tubes arrive.
